Pleiostachya pruinosa is a rare Marantaceae relative with upright layers of lance-shaped leaves covered in a soft, powdery matte finish that gives the foliage a subtle frosted sheen. It grows from underground rhizomes into a self-supporting clump, usually around 50–90 cm tall and wide, and feels more architectural than many lower, more spreading prayer-plant relatives.
Bright, indirect light and consistently warm conditions keep the foliage fullest, while high humidity and lightly moist but airy substrate prevent brown edges and limp leaves. Use a rich but well-draining mix with compost, coir, and perlite or bark, and divide the rhizomes when the plant eventually fills its pot.
This species is considered non-toxic and suits growers who like Marantaceae texture but want a stronger upright structure instead of a flatter tabletop habit.
