Thaumatophyllum xanadu forms a dense, self-supporting mound of glossy, deeply lobed green leaves, making it one of the easiest ways to add structured tropical foliage without dealing with a climbing plant. It spreads outward rather than upward, eventually reaching around 1 – 1.2 m tall and wide indoors while staying relatively tidy with minimal pruning.
Bright indirect light gives the best growth, and watering after the upper 15 – 20% of the substrate dry helps keep the roots active without creating the soggy conditions that lead to yellow leaves. A loose, nutrient-rich but airy mix, temperatures around 18 – 28 °C, moderate humidity, and occasional removal of old leaves are enough; it is toxic if ingested.
