Curio rowleyanus is String of Pearls in the most graphic sense, with wiry trailing stems lined in near-spherical green beads that store water and turn a pot edge into a living chain. Its appeal is architectural rather than leafy, so it works best where the strands can hang freely and stay visible, whether from a wall planter, a high shelf, or a simple hanging pot. A well-grown plant looks clean, precise, and almost jewellery-like, which is why it remains one of the best-known trailing succulents.
Bright light, lean soil, excellent drainage, and disciplined watering are what keep the pearls firm and evenly spaced; too much moisture or too little light produces split beads, yellowing, or long weak stretches that lose the crisp look completely.
