Philodendron tenue is a grand climbing species with large ovate to ovate-triangular leaves, glossy surface texture, and softly rippled margins that give mature plants a very rainforest-heavy feel. It wants height, not hanging, and becomes far more convincing once the stem is pressed to a moss or fibre pole.
Philodendron tenue likes bright indirect light, warmth, higher humidity, and a loose bark-based mix that lets the roots breathe between waterings. Water when the upper layer dries slightly, and keep conditions stable enough that new leaves can expand without stress. This is a plant for growers who want the scale and polish of a true species rather than the quicker novelty of a hybrid, and it rewards vertical space with very broad, glossy, impressive foliage.
