Philodendron subhastatum is a support-loving climber with semi-gloss green topsides and rich purple-violet backs on younger leaves, so the plant gives two different impressions depending on the viewing angle. As it matures, the underside colour softens, but the large ovate-triangular blades and deeply lobed base keep the plant strongly architectural.
Philodendron subhastatum does best in bright indirect light, good humidity, and a loose chunky mix watered after the upper few centimetres have dried.
