Philodendron 'Malay Gold' is a bright erubescens cultivar grown for chartreuse to lemon-lime leaves that stay luminous even when the plant is no longer producing fresh growth. It climbs or trails easily, but a pole usually gives a cleaner shape and larger leaves than letting the stems hang loose from the pot. Under indoor conditions it can reach around 1–2 m with support, while keeping a fairly slim footprint.
Bright, indirect light keeps the colour stronger, and watering after the top 3–4 cm of substrate has dried helps prevent the sour roots that dull growth. A loose mix with bark, coir, and perlite, warmth around 18–28 °C, and moderate to high humidity suit it best. Like other philodendrons, it is toxic if chewed.
