Opuntia microdasys forms tidy upright clumps of oval pads covered in dense clusters of glochids, creating the familiar “bunny ears” outline without long obvious spines. Those tiny barbed glochids look soft from a distance but detach easily and irritate skin, so the plant should be handled with gloves or tongs rather than bare hands. Indoors it usually reaches about 40–60 cm and keeps a compact, symmetrical habit when given enough direct sun, ideally at least several hours a day.
Use a sharply draining cactus mix, water only when the root zone is fully dry, and keep humidity low.
Yellow flowers may appear on mature plants in very bright conditions, though that is uncommon indoors. It works well where a small but graphic cactus silhouette matters more than fast growth or leafy mass.
