Iresine diffusa f. herbstii 'Rich Redstar' packs vivid colour into a manageable size, with ovate to heart-shaped leaves in dense red-purple tones set off by bright pink venation. Indoors it usually stays around 30–45 cm tall and forms a bushy plant if the tips are pinched regularly, which makes it a strong option for shelves, desks, or other bright spots that need contrast.
Give it bright, indirect light, keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged, and maintain warm temperatures around 18–27 °C. An airy, well-draining mix and light, regular feeding support steady growth, while stem cuttings root readily in water or substrate.
Regular pinching keeps the colour mass denser and the shape fuller. This cultivar is considered non-toxic, so it suits homes where pet safety matters.
