Hoya verticillata 'Red Leaf', also called 'Spoon Leaf', is a slow-growing epiphytic form with long rigid leaves that broaden and curve slightly like spoons, then flush rich red under bright filtered light. Even without flowers it already feels sculptural because the leaf shape is so distinct, and once mature it may also produce lightly spicy-scented umbels of pale star-shaped blooms.
The thick leaves store moisture well, so it tolerates short dry spells better than thinner Hoyas, but roots still need an airy, bark-rich substrate and good drainage. Bright indirect light is essential if you want the red colour without scorching, while temperatures around 18–26 °C and moderate humidity support better growth.
Hoya verticillata 'Red Leaf' is a strong foliage-driven collector choice when unusual leaf shape matters as much as bloom potential.
