Gynura aurantiaca is grown for colour and surface rather than bloom, with deep green leaves coated in vivid purple hairs that make the whole plant look almost electric in backlight. It grows fast, branches freely with pinching, and eventually starts to trail, so it works well in hanging planters or on high shelves where the stems can soften an edge without losing their strong colour. The small orange flowers are usually removed because they smell unpleasant and shift attention away from the foliage, which is the real reason to grow it.
Bright indirect light, regular moisture with good drainage, warm conditions, and routine trimming are what keep it dense and saturated instead of leggy, dull, or woody at the base.
