Ficus altissima 'Yellow Gem' is an upright indoor fig with glossy oval leaves edged and patched in yellow-green, giving the plant a brighter, more graphic look than solid green ficus forms. It grows with a tree-like structure and can be pruned to stay compact, though under steady conditions it develops into a substantial indoor specimen with strong branches and year-round foliage.
Bright, indirect light keeps the variegation clearer, while some gentle direct morning sun can be tolerated if the plant is acclimated well. Water once the top 2–3 cm of the mix has dried, keep it in a free-draining substrate with added aeration, and avoid sudden shifts in light or watering that can trigger leaf drop. Average indoor humidity is acceptable, but warmth and consistency matter most.
