Boophone disticha is not subtle: a large exposed bulb sends out a perfectly distichous fan of grey-green, wavy leaves that makes the entire plant look like a living sculpture before flowers are even considered. When conditions are right, Boophone disticha can also produce a spherical head of pink to red flowers, adding a very different seasonal display to an already dramatic form.
Because it comes from dry southern African habitats, it wants strong light, sharp drainage, and a dry-leaning rhythm rather than constant moisture. For collectors drawn to bulbous plants with real structural presence, this is one of the clearest statement species available.
