Begonia maculata 'Polka Dot' is the familiar spotted cane form with silver-marked angel-wing leaves, red undersides, and white flower clusters that can appear through the year when light is good. The plant grows upright rather than spreading from rhizomes, so it brings vertical interest and a distinctly tropical look without needing floor-level space to expand.
Bright indirect light keeps the spotting crisp and the canes strong, while a loose, breathable mix lets you water regularly without turning the root zone stagnant. Allow the upper portion of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings, keep humidity above about 50% if possible, and pinch or prune canes to encourage branching. It is one of the most readable decorative begonias in cultivation because the leaf shape, spotting, and coloured undersides all show clearly even before the plant flowers.
