Leaf shape is the story with Anthurium clavigerum. Juvenile plants start with simpler blades, but once the stem climbs and gains support, mature leaves become deeply cut and widely lobed, sometimes reaching 60–90 cm and giving the plant a chandelier-like outline. It is an epiphytic climber rather than a compact rosette, so a tall pole, plank, or other vertical support is essential if you want the adult form to develop properly.
Bright indirect light, very high humidity, and warm conditions around 22–30°C suit it best. Grow it in a coarse, airy epiphytic mix and water after the upper layer has dried slightly, never while the root zone is still stagnant.
Like other Anthuriums, it contains calcium oxalate and should be kept away from pets or children that chew plants.
