Agave demeesteriana f. marginata combines broader, slightly pliant green leaves with bright yellow margins, creating a softer rosette effect than heavily armed desert species without losing agave structure. It stays slow and deliberate in growth, eventually reaching around 60 cm tall and up to 90 cm wide if given time.
Strong light keeps the variegation clear, while a gritty, sharply draining mix protects the roots from the waterlogging this plant dislikes most. Let the substrate dry fully before watering again and avoid cold, humid positions. Marginal spines are reduced, but the terminal point and irritating sap still deserve respect. In a bright room or conservatory, it reads as a refined, colour-contrasted specimen rather than a brutalist one. It ages slowly.
